My passenger side speaker crackles and cuts out when i drive but not if im just parked and listening to the radio or a cd. I have checked the wiring going from the speaker to the radio and it is two pieces meaning its two sepereate pieces that have been joined together. The connection is good but could this be the problem? Another thing is that it seems like my radio has a little static noise. By the way I have a I have a pioneer super tuner.

The speaker connections are probably coming in contact with the door metal and shorting it out. Take out the speaker and put some electrical tape over the connections, the wire, and the metal where the connections line up. That should tell you if it is the issue.

could also be a dying speaker. swap the left speaker for the right and see if the problem follows the speaker or not.

you should take a volt meeter and make sure that the speaker is still good by testing its resistance. Usually if the speaker grounds out with the pioneer they will all stop playing, also are they the stock speakers or after market?

Impedance IS resistance.

actually according to my electronics engineering handbook, they are NOT one in the same, how ever without resistance there would be no Impedence.

resistance is the oposition that electrical currents see from a circuit. and would be expressed the same for both AC and DC current.

impedence is comprised of resistance as well as reactance. the reactance can be expressed by either an inductive or capacitive source.

basically if the OP were to put an ohm meter across his speaker the reading would yes be in OHMS but it would deffinately not match what the speaker says, due to the lack of current. I have done this many times, and if I recall correctly it will actually read higher than what is on the label.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Ah-hah I see, it's just that when I first read the definition of impedance, it sounded basically the same as resistance. I guess I'll be learning all about this kind of stuff soon enough. I'm majoring in electrical engineering.
