Measure the center gap.
The Spartan is different. If the gap is too narrow you need to REMOVE material instead of add shims, which requires machining down the case or the gears of the locker, altho I've never heard of the Spartan having that problem.
Removal SHOULD be the same as installation. It shouldnt be any more difficult.
5 years later this locker is still a piece of shit. It locks, unlocks, binds, and makes incredibly loud noises. I can't go anywhere without a loud pop coming from my rear end and people looking over to see what I broke. I've owned an Aussie locker before and it was nothing like this. The gap between the drivers is bigger than what they call for. It's at .180 and the range they call for is .145 to .170. Not sure what to do.
I'm tempted to go back to an open diff.
Sounds like the Powertrax Lock-right in my 7.5"
It unlocks when it feels like it.. And that's not very often. It clunks and bangs and makes my whole truck jump around when in parking lots.
I have heard the No-slip is better because it has synchros.
The Aussie in my front D35 is much better behaved. It works like it should.
