Just a heads up...get those 72 hour emergency kits together if you haven't got them already...and store up some drinking water...

Hurricane Sandy is coming to town...they are predicting very heavy rain, high winds, and possible flooding and power outages...

It may not come to full blows for us, but they say it's better to be over prepared than not prepared at all...

Looks like things are going to get pretty messy where I am. Regardless, it definitely pays to be prepared. I can not buy or rent a generator to save my ass. I got caught without one when that derecho hit in June, and was without power for a week. I put off buying one after that, and now here we go again. Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about flooding as I live on top of a hill. Things could really get interesting for those near the coast.

It's coming my way too. The last map I looked at said the eye is supposed to come not too far from where I live.

I'm on top of the hill too, so lost power is my biggest concern as well. No generator here, but plenty of fuel to get through. Have lots of ice stored up, lots of water stashed, and enough dry/canned food to last a while.

We are watching with great interest as well as our kids live in Alexandria. The DC fed gov is all shut down tomorrow and all the embassies are closed. They expect to get hit about 4 AM.

This will be interesting to see what happens.

I managed to find my way to work after Ike last year when the whole state was flooded. Might not bother to try this time.

Sure seems like the East coast been hit a lot lately while the Gulf has missed. Actually calling for waves on Lake Michigan to hit 33 ft. Being that far West with that is scarry.

I agree I live by the gulf coast and we've been lucky the last few rounds...hope you guys make it out ok. The last one that hit close to where I love was silly 3 or so years back it wasn't to bad either, we bbq'ed through er lol.

Been nice here in Florida with Sandy. We were in Orlando Sat/Sun to visit the the theme parks. Just some breeze and a few drops of rain early Saturday. Nice and coller for a change. It was 62 this morning and just a bit of a breeze.

Lost power around 10 pm last night but it came back around 5 am...wind is still a bit gusty but the wind warning is still in effect...

Hope everyone stayed safe last night...

Storm came and went last night. As far as I know we didn't even lose power here. I did have a voice mail telling me not to come in until 11 this morning though.

Water is important. For flushing... So we always filled our bath tubs up and just dipped from that. I been thru at least 15 major storms and 30 -40 minor ones. We have it to a fine science here on the Gulf coast.

Mark....the weather Channel said you'uns might be getting some wind for a couple days....

Yeah, I saw that...but it's not as bad as it was last night and even last night wasn't that bad...had a few shingles blow off the roof because the guy (owner) who did it left them lying around up there...

It was pretty amazing watching the trees dance though...sorta romantic...the White Pine was dancing with the Spruce...then that son of a Beech cut in while the Cedars were playing their hit single "She Leafs You"...

Nice to be able to joke about it now, but it was a bit tense...and apparently Toronto got slammed pretty good...
