ok. so i hooked up my sub and amp and my amp does not seem to be sending the power from the amp to the sub. It receives power but its not sending it to the sub? anyone have an idea of what may be wrong?

double check the wiring inside the box, you dont have the crossover set to HPF or anything like that do you?

check your deck and make sure you have the subwoofer turned on. check your wiring at the sub. also make sure you have your rcas hooked up to the right channel. check all the setting on the amp.

k. i found out its my ground wire. where would be a good place on my car to hook it on to?

what ground wire? you said your amp was recieving power and it cant complete the circuit without the ground wire. so which wire are you talking about? if you are talking about the amp ground, then attach it to bare metal as close to the amp as possible.

Come on Piston, we've ALL had to troubleshoot a ground problem at some point in are careers. Weak ground, bad ground, or no ground lol.

yeah. its the ground wire for the amp. i attached it to a small nut but that was not big enough. so now im gonna try the bolt that keeps the seat down. Its on pretty good tho so im having trouble getting it off. is there any other places that you guys put your amp ground cable?

pick a spot on the floorboard close to the amp. drill a hole. then sand down the area till its bare. then bolt that bad boy down.

yup. thet bolt worked. the sub works great. thanks for the help guys

I have an amp under each seat. I removed both seats from the vehicle. I used a wire brush attatchment for my drill and got the entire area of metal at the ground point SHINY. Put the seat back in, slide the ring terminal under the seat and line up the threaded, ring terminal, and seat holes and tighten your bolt down. I get no whine in my truck whatsoever :)

While you're at it don't skimp out my friend. Take an extra piece of ground cable and upgrade under the hood. Minimally run an extra piece from the negative terminal to chassis. Bonus would be an extra run of ground from engine block to chassis. If you really want to be an A+ installer run an extra power cable from positive terminal to your alternator. If you do this final step you MUST use an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible Here's a great link:
