Fix it till its broke!
Anyone know of any cheap decent materials that are self adhesive? Not looking for competition grade just to quiet down the outside world but more importantly to insulate the cab from the Texas heat.

I know about dynamat, roadkill, and some others but damn they are expensive. Lizard skin sounds awesome but I'd like to do it a little at a time as in not rip out my while interior all at once.

I was thinking about that but worried about it peeling, apparently the smell dissipates do no worries there. I did just read about b-quiet, sounds good except I don't think it helps with heat :(

I used Quick Roof on my Ranger. I was very happy with the results. It did smell like tar for about a week, but I also did it when it was hot outside. It seems like I read that it's not as bad if it isn't 90+ degrees outside.

I will soon be applying it to my F150 as well.

I used the tin foil backed bubble wrap in my exes jeep just so it wasn't carpet on metal. It helped, although I wonder if it was due to it finally having a barrier.

You don't want to use dynamat as a complete layer, you end up making the dynamat part of the car which will carry the sound just as well as plain metal. Use just enough dynamat on each panel so that when you tap on them they go "clunk" instead of "tink". As for the heat just find some closed cell aluminum backed stuff.

If you want to go all the way get mass loaded vinyl to put over the dynamat. It is supposed to stop vibrations from passing through potentially making your cab sound proof.

I did the whole interior with foil-backed closed-cell bubble wrap & spray adhesive & aluminum HVAC tape to seal the pieces together.....works as soundproof/insulation.....half the cost of dynamat/etc.

Where did you buy that DG? It looks awesome.

You can use the adhesive flashing like Shane mentioned, it's available at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc... It's not as thick as Dynamat, Fatmat or whatever, but it's far cheaper, so you can use multiple layers.

I'm kinda sure that I bought it at Lowe's/Home deepoe/on the ducting isle....just don't put it where your foots will be all the time--use something else more dense for that area of the floorpan
