How do you remove the cup holders in a 98+? The plastic "screws" or whatever the hell they are turn but do not come out. I haven't found anything in the tech library about them. I'm thinking about installing my newly acquired CB where they are. Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: By the way, it's a Cobra 25.

not sure exactly where your talking about do you have a pic of the screws?

I'm thinking about just breaking them off, they turn with a screw driver but they only turn so far. I'll take a picture in the morning when it's light out, i'm not a big rush.

I suspect they only turn 90degrees and that they work like "Camlock" fasteners.

Here's some shots, as you can see, i've already taken a stab at it...and failed.

i believe you just have to turn them 90 degrees and then lift up on the cup holder. then there will be a plate underneath the cup holder that you can remove or fasten you cb to.

I've turned them and they go about 180 degree's if I remember correctly. Regardless, when I did turn them and tried pulling up they wouldn't budge. Maybe I only turn 90 degrees and then pull? Maybe they lock when turned full rotation either way?

yep thats how mine came off turn 90 degrees and lift mine took some pressure though

Turn them 90 degrees and then slide the unit back an inch or so and it should come right out. But you may find a metal box under it . This has something to do with electronics in the truck.

I figured it out. With it locked all the way in one direction, turn it half way between both locks and it will come right up. The restraint module is under there so I just put them back and i'm going to mount it on the transmission hump on the passenger side so I can see the controls and what not. I'll post some pics when i'm done.
