i have a 1993 ford ranger 4x4 4.0, starts fine but if im driving for a while shut it off and start if back up it idles very weird, it sounds like its going to die, drops to 500rpm the shoots back up to around 1100rpm then after about 10 seconds it doesn't hesitate and idles back to normal. i replaced spark plugs and wires, coil pack, thermostat, coolant temp sensor, intake and valve cover gaskets. any thoughts?????????????????????????:annoyed:

Sounds like the Idle Air Control Valve. My truck used to do the same thing

I just replaced mine It cost 43 dollars with tax at Autozone - they were cheapest but I had to get it next day. It was not in stock. Two bolts and a plug Solved the problem.

Have you tried cleaning it yet? Usually they just get carbon build up over time and can be as good as new with a little time investment. Complete failures are rare.

i stopped at napa and a new one there is $100.... so i cleand it instead and it was even worse. then went mudding yesterday and now runs perfect
