Something I've noticed about people's opinions on the new Ford Ranger

Ol mean modernization Nazis tryna put cameras and doowhickies and whatchamacallits all up in the new vehicles boohoohoo. It's getting old. Everyone wanted a new Ranger and now it's too good for them.

Everyone wanted a new ranger that was built in the same spirit as the old one, simple, rugged, down to earth and priced within the budget of youre average joe. But maybe with a bit more room and a bit more power. But obviously ford has once again decided to appeal to people who should really be buying fusions, but want a truck to project an "image"

I would love to happen upon one for my '85 some day, I think it would be a cool period accessory.

Im not sure the factory CB still existed in 85?? But either way, good luck, their kinds rare:icon_thumby:

well....i wont complain if its got a power dik washer and stuff.

but a 25000 dollar 4 wheel drive bare bones no radio manual everything with ac only with a 35 mpg diesel that can tow 7k would tickle me just fine....

Everybody is just on here whining and wanting what they can't have.

Eh, no radio? Thats pretty hardcore.

But i agree, only with cruise to, and dont forget rubber floors.

...and maybe an ecoboosted colonge displaceing 2.9 liters....hey a fella can dream right?

Yeah. So what's your point?

People are going to complain. It's hard to find out what the majority of us want because marketing, media, government and manufacturers keep trying to dictate what we want. I believe somebody already mentioned, very early in this thread, that we are actually a minority and it just doesn't make much sense to design and manufacture something for such a small group.

Therefore, those of us with more ambition than money will continue to modify, maintain and drive older trucks to get what we want.

IMO they didn't do too bad. If you don't want frills go with an XL... just like the old days.

Personally I would opt for an STX FX4 in Saber. :icon_thumby:

The basic truck is basically Austrailia's F-150... it is no Ridgeline.

For ease of maintenance I like the 4 cyl concept. Spark plugs on the top, intake is on one side of thee engine, no exhaust manifold gaskets. IMO it beats the heck out of a V engine in that regard. Dunno how it will get packaged in the engine bay but looking at the engine on a stand it looked nice.

I don't think they did either. It is hard to find info on them, I think it would fit right fine on my "Ranger that Ford coulda/woulda/shoulda built" build though.

What exactly is the STX? I haven't seen anything about what is going to be included in each package.

It seems to be an appearance package for the XL (which is what the STX on the F-150's pretty much is too) I like the black grille and bumpers and while I would prefer the look of darker wheels like the higher trim trucks... darker wheels don't age as well as alloys.

I am interpolating some off the F-150 STX, I like the way the STX Ranger looks on the outside and I like the F-150's rather basic inside. And on the '150 you can get the FX4 package with the STX. FX4 on the Ranger gets you pretty decent looking AT tires and a locking rear on the Ranger.

My requirements are pretty basic, A/C, cruise, PW, PL, locking rear axle, smallish rims and trailer package.

So much is on in the air right now on the Ranger, like on the '150's you can pick your gearing and whether or not you want a locker. If I can get a locker with decent gear and A/T's on smallish rims without the FX4 package... I would have to run the #'s. The computer traction control thing with the FX4 sounds neat, I haven't really needed it yet though.

My biggest getcha at the moment aside from engine bay packaging is how I will fit with the center console. Pretty much everything I have driven with one interferes with my right knee, I would rather have a split bench with a flip down center console.

my 09 fleet came with no radio. It still had the speaker mounts in the doors and behind the seats but no wiring and just a small "shelf" where the radio would go. But my truck brand new was also only $15,500. Now if you want to drive anything resembling a truck it costs twice that for crap people like me dont need or want. I don't need 4 doors, 4x4, a.c, power windows, ass warmers, blue tooth and all that other crap. I need a truck that drives. That's all. Guess there's no market for vehicles like that anymore.

One thing my truck has that the 2019 ranger wont... an ash tray and a cigarette lighter!!!

as i will build what i want.....so i can have it.

because no company has ever or will ever cost effectively build what suits my requirements.

Id be happy with 2 solid axles, manual everything, and atleast a 7ft box.

Look at that horrible car...even the damn bicycles won't fit in the back. At least with my 84 Ranger I could load up the bikes and close the tailgate. If I buy a truck I want it to have a damn truck bed, otherwise its nothing more than a oversized sedan without a trunk lid.
