recently my nephew started a 94 4.0 swap into a 1990 ranger with a 2.9, well as a typical teenager he gave up the project so now i have it, i went to the JY and got a engine harness, power distribution box w/ head light harness from a 94 exploder, and a computer from a 94 ranger, the computer from the exploder was gone, i have everything wired in but the two clips on each side of the head lights are now empty, i just need to know if these are for the rear tail lights and if i need to pigtail them to the big clip on the 4.0 harness, also the brain connection for the 4-wheel anti lock brakes just clip and cap? the computer out of the ranger is only RABS

any help is apreciated, I just want to show this kid that this can be done

Does the Ranger have power windows/doors?

Are the 'two clips' coming into the engine bay coming 'out' of the fenders?

the ranger has manual everything but the t-case ( which sucks dont care for "on the fly") and yes they come through the fenders on each side through the opening down by the turn signal. the 2.9 harness was attached but nothing on the 4.0 harness goes to them.

Is that not the wires to the speakers in the doors?

Don't know if it's a difference with the 4.0 or not, but my 4.0 Explorer has them going through the pillar, and my 2.9 Ranger had them going through the firewall, up to the front, then splitting off and back under each fender t the door.

That's them. The Power locks/Windows are in the same harness. :icon_thumby:

Sorry, forgot to mention that.

i hope you got the dash wiring from the explorer as well looking over the diagrams here and there is a big difference between the 94 and 90 body wiring, now the body wiring is the same between the 94 ranger and 90 ranger except you will have to get a brake on off switch/sensor and splice that one in and its all plug and play except the 94 ranger headlight harness, power distribution, and pcm are on the drivers side, and the 90 runs on the pass side:icon_thumby:

well unfortunately no i thought the dash wiring from the 94 ranger and explorer were the same, guess not and i also found that the camshaft positioning sensor has a different clip that plugs into it as well, well if anyone can help with what color wires need to be changed please let me know, because the explorer is gone and the ranger at the jy is gone to also my nephew threw away all the old wiring from the 2.9 so i guess i screwed myself on this one, damn it what a pain in the ars
