so today at work this toyota four cam v6 truck came in for a no start.

i pulled the timing cover off expecting a broken timing belt.. well i got quite a surprise.

i can see how that might keep it from starting

just too much horsepower from that v6. :icon_rofl: Toyota just can't seem to get it right can they?

heres a little follow up.. SEVERE lack of oil changes

It's pretty obvious that due to a failure caused by a defective thermostat, the engine wasn't warming up to normal operating temperatures. That led to a build up of sludge in the crank case which then led to the engine seizure.

I feel sorry for toyota right now, they are really sucking a big one...
If i owned a toyota I would do preventative maintenance constantly to help them save a little face!!!

sure that could contribute, but a defective thermostat couldn't have caused something this severe. this is thick chunky sludge from a lack of maintenance.

the very little that came out the oil pan barely slopped out the drain hole.

lol they asked if they could just get a cam

yea i bet that will have to go through a few sessions on the hot tank to even remotely get cleaned up. lol

Wow. Full tear down or new motor?

new engine. as a shop we wouldn't risk our reputation on just replacing the head. im sure the oil passages and oil pump are full of this sludge.

Ummm yea that was no fault of Toyota's. That was pure negligence on the owners part!
