My kit was $500 including knuckle, four tie rod ends, and the tie rod and drag link. Pricey, but it was really my only option, I guess.
I don't have it 4x4 yet. I bought a house this summer and that really sucked my funds dry. I haven't been looking too hard for a 4x4 transmission, but I've been asking around for the 3.0L. I am hoping I can swap the bellhousing from my 2.3L onto the new transmission, but we will see. I've got a transfer case already that I hodge-podged to be a manual case (i.e., I have to get under the truck and turn a knob). It probably won't get done anytime soon unless we get our $8000 Obama check in the mail.
Considering the height increase, which I estimate to be 10"-12" of lift (remember, it started as a 2WD), will a 4x4 Ranger driveshaft be long enough or should I look for something else? Any other applications from the junkyard that I could consider?
I really want to get the ball rolling and get this project finished, only thing holding me back is about $1000 in parts. So if any one has a spare 4.56 for the D30, or a lunchbox locker or carrier, for cheap, let me know please!
