I am sorry to inform you that your Ford has a Mazda chassis, suspension, and transmission. Most everything else is Ford, though.

you say this like any of that is a bad thing.

Bummer on the Ranger, but how many miles are on the escort? You might have to keep an eye on those valves in case they become unseated

Ive had 2 94 escorts...both sedans...i hated them both. the 1.9L worked so hard to get up hills the gains in mpg on the highway were killed instantly:annoyed:. but then i got a 92 sable which was a god compared to the escort.

do u own a pontic ferio? jw are you on v6z24

no i no longer own the fiero. i wish i did, its one of the only cars ive had that i liked better than the ranger. small car+well built sbc=fast!!!!!!!!!!!

137k and there is a stikcer in the door saying that the odomoter was replaced at 23k.

the mazda b-series truck predates the ranger by a few decades and change. (circa 1961)

ford courier? rebadged mazda pickup truck.

stop being a douchebag.

no it doesnt. the first ranger was a trim level on the edsel in the late fourties or early fifties i think. (yes i know you meant the ranger truck, i was being a smart ass trying to display my usless obscure knowledge)

i got to panama city and back plus lots of driving around while i was down there plus my navigator gave bad directions and we went the long way around that was with 5 of is plus a crapload of luggage in the back and a large cooler full of alchahol, and we got there and back on $120, but around town i get low 20's wich is only a couple miles a gallon more than my ranger did.

I got 37 in my '93 hatch, 1.9 auto, and it'd melt the tiny little 205's off all the way through 2nd. Didn't even require aftermarket parts to do that, just a bunch of porting and grinding.

Ah ok, I had an 94 Escort hatchback with a lot more miles. It was a good car, great on gas, and everything worked on it (including the AC, amazingly enough). But, like a lot of the 1.9L's, a valve became unseated and grenaded the motor. I got about 2 1/2 years out of the car, so for $400 I paid for the car, I got plenty of use out of it.

Usually the valves won't drop suddenly, but a tell-tale sign is the motor loosing compression for about 3-5 seconds on initial start up.

I cleaned out the crap. Stop Hijacking the OP's thread.

My dad used to have a 98 Escort. It was a pretty decent car. In fact, if I had found an Escort in decent shape, I probably wouldn't be driving my Ranger. Don't feel so bad about it, they are decent cars. :icon_thumby:
