I have been living with this for about a year. 2001 has about 83,000 on it. In the winter it is bad! Sounds like a diesel at least till warmed up. I did try Mobil 1 0W30. It seemed to help a bit.
Now, with warmer temps, it isn't too bad I guess. My hearing is bad enough I probably miss the little rattle. But my son says it is still there at start up and under acceleration. But is much lighter than in winter.
So question is, fix or not? I have not heard of but one Ranger having a failure. I can put up with the noise. Dealer wants about $500 to $600 to fix it. But I could spend the money on other things.
So comments or suggestions?
On a side note, if it have it done they would replace my stock drive pulley with an under drive which I already have. I wouldn't have to crawl under there and do it my self.
