i am looking into softer coils for my 86. The front rides like a tractor when you hit a bump on the road, i need a 6" lift spring that is softer than what is on there which i believe to be a Rough Country. I plan on DDing the truck so it has to work well on road even if it costs me a little flex/performance off road.
Are skyjackers my best bet???
I've read about Jeep coils but they seem too soft for on road???
Ill be getting new shocks on all four corners too.
Thanks for any input!!!

^^^^ Perfect example of someone giving advice when they don't know what they are talking about.

While EB springs are a great choice, the OP stated that he only needed about 6" of lift. I didn't know RC made a 6" lift but that's not the point. A 5.5" EB coil will be way over 6" of lift, closer to 8"-9". I know because that's what I am now running. I ran a 3.5" EB coil when I had TTB and it equaled out to right about 6" of lift. I would recommend against it because it was too soft.

If you could find a 3" EB spring in the neighborhood of 275-300 lbs/in that would work very well. If not, I'm afraid the skyjacker ranger springs are about the softest you can buy.

Sorry about the few details in the original post, i bought the truck lifted. It has a plate style lift now with i believe to be 4" Coils with 1" Spacers under and i am planning on putting a D35 in and buying the skyjacker lift bracket with some softer coils. I want to end up with around 6" of lift.
Thanks for your input

Do these seem about right??? they are 320ppi

also, im not against skyjacker springs, i just wanted to know if they would be better than the springs that are on the truck now.

Is your truck a supercab? I actually talked to Bronco Graveyard about their EB coils, I have right now the Deaver coils and they are way to soft for my Ex Cab ranger but were perfect for my BII. However there 3.5" superlift coils i'm told by them are closer 375PPI which is being its listed at 320 now makes me not know who to believe but 375PPI would be close to perfect for a Ranger or Ex Cab Ranger, However if you were to plan on putting a winch or big bumper on the front I'd go with a stiffer coil. Also If you read this post by 4X4Junkie whom I'd say is the king of TTB info http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29

reg. cab long bed with a 2.9, i know i will have to swap springs again if i swap motors.

If it's primarily a DD without any real extreme use offroad, I would say go ahead and get the Skyjacker RBV coils. This would make it pretty much a drop-in swap without all the math & homework needed in figuring out which non-RBV coil would work best.

Keep in mind shocks will play a role in perceived stiffness too, so you might consider getting the shocks first, then see if you still think you need coils (Bilstein has always been a great name in shocks).

How are skyjackers shocks??? Hydros or Nitros??? if i buy springs from them i may just get their shocks too.

I have Skyjacker springs, and Bilstein shocks with 170/60 (the softer valving than most often suggested) and the front axle rides great.

I Ran SJ Nitro shocks for a bit on mine. They were decent, though they felt like the rebound valving could've been a slight hair stiffer. The Bilsteins seem a bit more balanced though, and not quite as much harshness upon hitting a pothole or something.

ill probably end up with skyjacker nitros, there is no way my girlfriend will let me spend $320 on blistiens.

Butter her up a bit and get the shocks you want. I run Fox's and love them not to mention they can be rebuilt or revalved.

i had to butter her up to buy the ranger, then i buttered her up to buy the 8.8, then i buttered her up for the 63s and shackles......needless to say, i think im about out of butter

looking like the plan is skyjacker nitros with a 6" skyjacker spring. does skyjacker make different rate springs? i thought i saw some labeled as "soft ride" and others that are not. or is it just leafs they do that with?

i havent quite ruled out EB springs yet though

I think they are all considered "soft ride" but I could be wrong.

6" skyjacker springs as far as I know only come in one PPI, which is around 435 IIRC. Junkie knows for sure better than I......

The 6 & 8" SJ coils seem to be around 410PPI, the 4" coils are more around 450PPI.
