I went ahead and found a whole donor I think will prove useful for my bronco...
It is a 1988, runs and drives great really. Shifts good and runs fine. Cold air and cruise work even. It was owned until recently by an older lady. And the person I got it from didn't car for the "issues" it had... In fact other then a nasty steering wheel that oozed padding on hot days, clear coat coming off, and a dirty interior, it is in good shape. I ripped off the steering wheel cover and have been driving it back and forth the 4 miles to work on country roads the past week to see if I felt it was up to the swap. The car has just over 100k miles (1015xx miles). Picked it up for a grand total of $540 (including gas to pick it up).
So what all parts are going be able to be swapped in with the motor? Can I use the AOD and just get different extension housing for 4x4 off a F150 and output shaft and run a fullsize transfer case?
Is it worth going AOD I have a C5 in the bronco now and I have a rebuilt C4 laying in the shop I could use... I just keep thinking with gas prices as they are and since I am planning on holding onto the bronco a long time maybe an overdrive would be a good investment over the life of the vehicle...
I believe I can run the entire engine and harness for the engine to get EFI and just have to find a EFI tank and lines to make it work...
I don't care about changing drive shaft lengths as with the axles I am planning on running it will require different shafts anyway.
Any and all input will be appreciated. Thanks.
