i look under the hood.

CASH FOR CLUNKERS TAG ON THE ENGINE.

looked inside, only had 120k on it.

interior was mint too.

i don't think i've ever been angrier than i was at that moment.

yes, that's a brand new tire, still has the feelers.

What I have to say about it is not permitted to be said on this forum as it would turn the air blue and make a drill sarge wince.

In fact, I'm agitated enough right now that I have to go kill some pixel people (COD4 FTW).

whoa... easy there... mayb not a firery death..... mayb just a large concusion and multiple broken bones?

that does suck.... that truck still had another 200,000 miles left b4 it was even close to clunker material

yea that does suck. i still cant beleive that they trashed all them cars and trucks they got for cash for clunkers there where so nice cars around here i would have liked to have..

is it legal to buy the car, minus the motor?

what pisses me off is that there are ppl driving cars that are in worse shape than the cfc trade ins, atleast make the cfc trades tradable with other ppl who can trade in there muffler dragging rotted out floor smashed up clunckers for a car model that similar that was traded in for free or cheap...

Nope, you can buy parts off them, but you can't get the whole vehicle. And they poured stuff into the motors to completely ruin them - they're not even rebuildable.

Actually, from what I understand, originally they didn't want to let junkyards take the CFC cars, they wanted them to go straight to the crushers and shredders. Our tax dollars at work no doubt.

I was almost certain.... that all cash for clunker cars were to be crushed for scrap. I've never seen one outside a dealership impound awaiting a cruel death. Intresting that a few made it to live on as parts.

Yea, part of what happened was that they got more vehicles in faster than they could get rid of them, so they started overflowing into junkyards. Originally junkyards were just supposed to hold them until they were crushed, but a lot of yards started looking the other way as people tore parts off.

That makes sense, thanks. For the D.C. Metro area it did not go that way. They must have had one hell of plan for getting rid of the clunker cars quickly.

no reason you can buy the whole truck and find a old ass rusted out truck and switch vin plates... thats just my thoughts... and of course motors... i know a couple of jy that would seel them to you without dashes or any vin so you can do just that in TN

A friend of my sister works for a dealership and told me they got a lot of rangers in when the program was running. The guy also told me b4 they shipped all of the clunkers they throw em in neutral lay on the gas and wait for them to blow:shok:. I guess the rangers went out with a fight though :headbang:.

Swapping vin plates is illegal. TRS does not condone illegal actions.

Junkyards are not permitted to sell whole CFC cars. They can sell you a whole vehicle if they want, and I have bought vehicles that way, but they are not allowed to sell a whole CFC car. Technically they are not supposed to sell parts off them either, but since most junkyards seem to be run by people interested in making money off of what they have in the yard, parts dissappear.

They usually stuck them in neutral and poured liquid glass in the motor or some other compound to completely destroy the motor.:shok:
