So my 63 year old mother decided she wants a truck.... help!

How is the E-locker different from limited slip?

A locker physically locks the two side of the axle together. Usually with toothed rings.

A limited slip uses friction to get the two sides to hold together but will eventually let go. Usually plates and clutches squeezed together but a couple uses gears to achieve the same purpose.

It's just beyond goofy AF to spend many thousands of extra dollars to get the OFF ROAD PACKAGE.. just to lower it.. and likely never take off road.

It's like buying big fake boobies and then hiding them under a 2 size too big sweatshirt... why bother?

Ruby has a point. Because of the shocks and under body protection, lowering an FX4 does make sense. It’s counter intuitive because of what the package is supposed to be used for but it does make sense. Now if they would have used properly dampened shocks for off road, the package wouldn’t make sense other than the plates.

So you can have something to play with. Obviously.
Let's review what you get with the FX4 package: skid plates under the radiator/front dress, under the transfer case, under the fuel tank and "off road" shocks (that ride better on the road than regular shocks), and a electric locking rear differential. Those are all things that make sense for a lot of situations not off road, so I have no issue if it gets dropped a few inches, since that does not reduce the clearance under the truck anyway, it just reduces the approach, breakover, and departure angles - and not by a lot either.

All of you just take your logic and giiiiit oouutt!
