i chopped off my muffler today, it sounds great, nice and throaty. but while i was under there i noticed that after the muffler, there's what look like a resonator, then a cat, then it hits the y-pipe. on the driver side of the engine is what looks like another resonator, then the o2 sensor.(time to gut the cats :). on the passenger side is what looks like another cat. all of these covered by heat the heat shrouds, even the muffler.

my point being: which is which? short term it would be easier to just gut the cats for some more volume. my long term goal is to go straight pipe from the headers im getting, to an x-pipe, then from the x pipe to dual glasspacks, then two tips out the back. but that takes more money than i have right now.

if someone could help me out with that i'd appreciate it

Leave it alone. Not only is it a federal offence, it is frowned upon here. headers, hi-flow cats and a super 44 will probably be pretty loud, and legal

then you can frown upon me. i know what i COULD do, but this is what i want. and how do you know its not only for offroad use? i have a buddy with a dodge ram diesel and a car trailer to tow it to the track. so if someone could actually answer my question and not tell me what you all frown upon here. not trying to be a jerk, i just want my question answered.
thanks all

You're not going to get your answer here.

TRS does not endorse breaking the law, which is exactly what you are doing by removing or tampering with functioning emissions equipment. You will get no gains from removing the catalytic converters, it will actually hurt it as your truck with has a post catalyst monitor which senses how efficiently the catalytic converters are working. With out them functioning properly you will have your MIL on.
