So is their a Holy Grail of RBV?

didnt they make a ranger GT???
yeah but it was a body kit kinda thing, not different mechanically. 4x2 only, 2.9, kinda sporty looking.
Otherwise, for a 4x4 I'd say a 96-97 4.0.

The transmission in my Suburban was a 4l80e. 91, 2500, 350, 14bolt. If it made it into a 3/4 ton Suburban the must have made it into the 3500 crew cab.

What was the build date on your Sub?

As BDAB stated above, they did. It was a one year kind of thing. The 4l80e to round pattern 205 adapter is highly sought after as well is the ECM and wiring harness.

They didn't really show up until 1991.5, if I recall correctly. They were available in the "classic" body style trucks in 1992 after the HD body style change, I have seen plenty of those.

On the Explorer side of things, an early 90s with a 4.0L, manual hubs, manual t-case, M5OD, Dana 35, and 31-spline 8.8 is a "holy grail."

Anything with a manual 1354, manual hubs, 4.0/5 speed and 4.10 D35 TTB.

I thought the overdrive auto was available in the '91s. I've never seen a '92 with my bodystyle. But I haven't made a study of it either.

Your body style continued only through 1991. The HD trucks (as well as subs/blazers) debuted their new look for the 1992 model year.

I've seen many trucks with the 700r-4, as it was made available around '82 although was much less desirable than the TH350 during that time.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste much time looking for a "Holy Grail" or rare truck. They aren't anything that can't be built yourself. Burnside's BII with the D35, 4.0/M5OD, choptop, etc would be my idea of an ideal RBV. Nothing that wasn't RBV-Specific, I would still like to see a D44 or 60 up front of it though. :thefinger:

I'd probably say the 02-03 FX4 Level II's with the 4.0L SOHC, torsen diff, 4.10's and a manual tranny/manual transfer case. But thats just my opinion....

it might very well be the most prepared but not the most rare.

besides prototype 4.0L B2 isn't their a rumored 4.0L GT? that would also fall under short cab, short box 2wd with a 4.0L.

I think a 2.3T Ranger GT would be a riot, it would have the umph to go with the looks.

GT's did come with a long box so it wouldn't be only shortboxes that got them.
