did this swap like two days ago and last night took her out to check out if these were really all they cracked up to be. well... they definetly flex AMAZING especially with my 6400's. BUT i have a problem, when compressing my drivers side my driveline hits my gastank and skidplate. any suggestions?

you can trim the hell out of the skid. Ive had mine off several times to trim with the sawzall and beat with the bfh, running the 4" skyjacker leaves and belltechs. it still rubs. you might go with another tank or fuel cell all together if its hitting the tank. move it up into the bed etc.

I trimmed mine (when I still had the stock tank) too. Trim it so IF it rubs, it'll rub the skid rather than the tank itself. It'd suck to rub through your gas tank. Chances are though its still gonna rub, mine did.

Mine rubs with explorer leaves. On mine, I think the ujoint catches the edge of the skidplate, becuasee it pops (it makes a horrible noise). But I haven't trimmed the skid plate either.

damn... i think im gonna try and clearance the skidplate cause the sound its making now just makes my skin crawl, absolutely horrible.

also found the best wheel travel i could get today was about 19". think my shocks are limiting my downtravel.

definately get some odd looks when your ds is screeching down the trail. people think the truck is going to blow up

yeah im headed out there to to figure out that skid plate situation and take pictures of my transfer case for my mad scientist friend who is gonna help me with some stuff ;)

Two things you can do, one clearance the skid plate, two is shift the trans mount to the passenger side to give you extra room...A little fabbing is neccessary for this mod, but is worth it and better than relocating the fuel tank

Here's a lil advise for those of you with a 1-piece driveshaft swap, or those of you thinking about doing it.

1. Retubing (longer) my old driveshaft cost about the same as a wrecking yard 1-piece shaft.

2. When I had my driveshaft retubed, I used the original style smaller dia. (2.75") and had it made with heavier wall tubing. The 1-piece I had previously swapped in was .75" larger in dia. and made the rubbing issue way worse.

Just something to think about....

Exact same thing I had done with my stock 2 piece shaft. In the end with the heavy wall tube, new u joints and balancing it was under $300.

No more rubbing issues under full flex situations and a much tuffer drive shaft.

Stocker 1-piece was $175 plus tax.....

Retubed with thicker material, balanced and new joints was $165 with a lil discount.

My stock one piece was around $130 with new joints, but I have the large 4" aluminum drive shaft, and I think I will be doing the mod to my factory two piece shaft so I can cut down on the diameter....

alright so a little insight into the past of my truck. it's 92 std cab 5 speed (m50d) with a 93 sploder (best casting #'s) motor in. some where along the line before i bought it the po blew up the original rear end and swapped in the 7.5 while doing so swapped the rear ds. the one with tiny ass u joints. so i just went out and measured my ds and the od is somewhere around 2.5'' maybe a little more. to the outsides of the ears on my rear yoke is 2.75 and the tube is a lil smaller. that being said i already have a small ds. but thick wall? ohh yeah
