Ok so I have done some research and what I have read is that you have to go with an automatic when you have a 2wd. Is that right?

It seems to me that a Stang 5.0 and T5 should work but what do I know

5.0 and T5 here. Not sure what you've been reading!

I think the only Ranger that only came with only one transmission - a manual- were the 4cyl/4wd trucks. But 5.0 Explorers did only come with automatic trans.

I went from a 2.9 5 speed, to a 302/C-4, to a 302/Toploader 4 speed, 331/Toploader, 302 Toploader, 302/SROD, finally back to a 302/C-4
