i test fit my dads wheels and tires to try to help me decide what to do next. my current tires are lame 235/75/15's these are 31x10.5's. they barely rub on the radius arm, only on the left and only on left hand turn at full lock.

looks good, if you need a bit more room to account for flex, you could just cut the fenders a bit, that'll get rid of the rust at the same time.. and then you could always go bigger than 31s :)

are those 15" wheels? they look a bit bigger for some reason.. but they are really clean looking!

yeah i think i want to do cut out flares, but the bigger problem is the rubbing on the radius arm. why would it only rub on one side? oh, and they are 15" wheels. they are stock fx4 lvl2 wheels and tires, and they are clean because i just got back from the car wash. they had brake dust all over them and i cleaned them as thanks for letting me borrow them.

I love them "Mexican campers".
LOL. Looks nice though. Getting a lift kit as well?

maybe you could extend the little stop bolts that hit the caliper? i know my 97 has them, i need to cut the old ones out and put something longer in.. my 33x12.5s rub on the sj radius arms too..

the cap will be coming off as soon as i can sell it, i have a soft tonneau to go on there once the cap is gone. its been lifted about 3" up front and 1.5" in the back. ive got lift shackles to put in the back if i decide to. i dont think it has anything to limit steering travel, but it does need an alignment, so that may be why it rubs on one side but not the other. i was originally thinking i wanted 31x9.5's but i think i want to step up to 32's and i havent been able to find a 9.5" wide 32" tire

I don't know if the steering stops came on the D28. I know my 88 doesn't have them.

32x9.5s would be some damn narrow tires. I know they make 33x10.5 and those are still pizza cutters. 32s are usually harder to find too, I don't think they have as many options as far as sizes go.

Looks good though.

you said you had 3" lift in the front, what did your tires rub on? and you fixed it with a spacer, right?

I'm pretty sure they rubbed on either the inner fenderwell right at the bottom of the wheel well in the front, or the fender itself, in the back at the bottom.

They were 10.5s on 15x8s with 3.75 BS. It may also have been a little less than 3" now that I think about it, they're JD progressive rate coils that had already been broken in. I used the F-150 spacers and now they clear.

i see, the wheels that i had on there are 15x7 with a 4" b/s. that would explain the rubbing on the radius arm. my wheels are only a 3.75 b/s though, so thy should fit a little better.

thanks samsonite, thats the plan. i need front fenders and a hood, and i think doors too. cut out flares all around. get my grille guard on there. get rid of the cap, put on my soft tonneau. some new paint, and black out the chrome, some new shoes :D ill be a happy man
