smokin clutch

ok i got a 90 ranger 4.0 5 speed and when i go wheelin i keep smellin my clutch burnin in deep holes ..... my clutch only has bout 10000 miles on it is there ne better options out there other than stock? i want a stage 2 clutch but i have been told ill break my trans with it. has anyone else had this problem?

Ok, first, stage 2 and 3 clutches are for engines that have real power. You won't break your trans with one, but it is about the most worthless thing you can do.

If you only smell it in deep holes, either your gears are too high and you are bogging things down to the point where it is slipping because you are overloading the whole system, not likely since you will usually stall the engine before that, or you are just getting stuff up in the bell housing to let it slip.
