so i would like to remove the smog pump only because the metal pipe looks like its gonna be in the way of my a/c box. i would keep it if i could but it doesnt look like it. my question is how much worse is the emisisons output without it? i asked about the requrements where i live and i only have to maintain the equipment my truck originally had, and the new engine will be tested against the standards for my 4.0. will the v8 pass without the pump?
i have a 1990 excab 4x4, the doner engine is a 1989 mark VII engine with mustang harness and computer maf.

There are catalytic converters available that do not use the air injection, if you choose.
