I am currently putting a 302 EFI in to a 92 Ranger supercab(2.3 EFI). I REALLY don't want to hook the smog back up to the 302.

My question is will the motor run fine w/o the smog canister and stuff?

And do I need to get heads that are smog compliant?

Emissions aren't a big deal where I'm from, so let me know.

You don't have to worry about emissions here in Minnesota. You won't have to change heads or anything. Removing the emission systems can be dealt with in a few different ways. The best would be to have the PCM tuned to remove these functions.

What computer are you putting in your truck?

Its from an '89 F-150

Ok, I'll simplify my question, What are some tips n' tricks on how to work around the smog and yet not have a problem with the motor's performance?

The smog ports on the heads need to be plugged. The ports in back can have spark plugs threaded into them with the porcelain broken off. The ports in the middle of the intake surface can be plugged with 5/8" bolts with the hex heads cut off. You may also want to grind out the Thermactor bumps in the exhaust ports too. This should work fine for you.
