Lately I have been having a small problem. When I try to start my truck in between 130 and 170 degrees engine temp it will crank for quite a few seconds before firing, and when it does it takes a couple of seconds to "even out" and run smoothly. when it's sat long enough to completely cool it fires right off, when it's completely warm it fires right off, no problems whatsoever.
There are no trouble codes on the KOEO and KOER tests besides 11. the plug wires are fairly new and good quality, as are the plugs cap and rotor, the ignition pickup was recently replaced as was the TFI, the TFI is remote mounted. Fuel pressure is good and the filter is fairly new. Fuel injectors have been replaced with a known good set out of a 2.9 with cracked heads and low miles. Truck is an 86 with 273k miles on it, egr was removed, swapped to an 88 computer as well.
This problem has me baffled. I am guessing that I have overlooked something. I should add that driveability is not affected by this, it runs like a top and has excellent power. Its just me being a perfectionist because something doesn't seem to be "as it should."

Iffy temp sensor or marjornal EGR??? tossing out thoughts...sounds like your on a fence with this.

Have you tried to cycle the key on and off a couple of time prior to actually starting when it's in this temp zone??

how is the compression?

compression was good when it was last checked, each cylinder was at about 150 psi. egr is gone, has an 88 computer and wiring harness to alleviate the crap that went with the non functioning egr system. the fuel pressure is good, right at about 34 psi running idle, great power for a 273k motor too. fuel filter has about 28k on it so its about time for a new one I think, plugs are in about the same boat, about 35k on them.
