97 ranger 2.3 runs great when cold or low humidity, then sluggish at times when hot. any help?

doesn't make much sense?
what's your engine temp run?

If the compressor was stuck the belt would burn. Could be that the humidity is causing one of the sensors to go a little out. Maybe the maf but that is a guess.

ohh what about a cracked distributor cap? letting moisture get into there?

Mine also feels slugish... When i push the gas pedal it doesn't seem like it gets gas.. then all of the sudden feels like it gets it... I dont have ac but i have my heater thing on the cold side...?

is it when its hot? like hot outside? or engines running hot?

could be a fuel issue like a clogging filter

Yeah when its hot out side.. My Engine temp always reads normal.

Nope... New Fuel Filters like a week ago.. 60 miles ago? I also put a New Air Filter in...

Also sorry for thread jacking haha.

sorry computer been down. my ranger has a/c but i dont run it. i was thinking about the air temp sensor out of range or maf out of calibration when warn. its very strange the way it acts sometimes. giving truck to boy when he turns 16. need to figure out soon. its had new plugs, wires, air, fuel and timing belt. still does same thing. i bought it used and it has always done it every summer.

Might be in the evaporative system or even a cat starting to clog. Throwing a code? Also, what kind of plugs did u use? Some non-factory plugs and wires just plain suck.

changed cat at a muffler shop i worked at. old cat was clean but replaced it anyhow. installed motorcraft spark plugs. what ever book calls for thats what i allways use. cant figgure out, craziest thing i ever run across

My Tempo used to do the same thing...would run great all winter and then as soon as the hot weather hit it would do really weird things...but mine was the low pressure fuel pump...it would cut out sporadically causing bucking and other four letter ing words to spew from my mouth...

I replaced that pump four times in fourteen years...every time same symptoms...

hey guys, just checked fuel pump today and it seems fine. idle it is 30psi, when acc it goes to 40psi. underload it is 40psi. i give up, any help of what next.

sluggish

today i unplugged the egr and drove it for a couple of days and it is much better but still isnt 100 %. now i got chech engine light for small evap leak and smell gas fumes at tank. im sure its not related, just something else to fix
