On my dana 35 front axle the long side (passenger) front drive axle comes loose and slips out of the hub. Seems like the slip yoke isn`t pressing back out. Not sure exactally how its supposed to work or if its supposed to be packed with grease? I was looking at a junk yard for one but don`t want to buy it until I know more about the slip yoke. If it is the slip yoke would it be the inner part (output from diff) or the axle shaft? Any other suggestion what it could be would be great. FYI its a 93 Ranger 3.0l. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are missing the splined washer and c-clip that go over the end of the shaft and holds it in the spindle (hub). These parts missing would cause what you describe.

pt# 61 & 63 in this diagram.

Right on guys thanks! I have those 2 pieces (60 and 61) on the end of my axle. I will try the spring thing though looks like a good idea and got a Echo dealer right in town. It shouldn't cost to much for that spring so thats awesome. Thanks again!

That is good to know...

As an Echo parts guy, that spring lists for $2.25 over the counter... which makes it a pretty cheap fix.

Looks like one of those springs that get launched into orbit never to be seen again when a bump-and-go head gets to close to something and flies apart...
