Just spent a few hours trying to figure out why the hose would rattle and the clip is loose and can and will fall out. I think there must be an o-ring the is missing. Am I doing something wrong or does anybody know size or have any pictures. I can get an o-ring if anybody knows the size.

I may not be much help here, but I'll put in my 2 cents.
I guess your repairing the 87 Ranger. Is it a 2.3 or a 2.9L ?
Which side of the hose are you having trouble with again ? As far as I know all the hoses use the same O-ring on the Master Cylinder side. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure of it. (EDIT: Actually I'm not real certain if the 2.9 and 2.3 hoses are interchangeable) You should be able to find them fairly easy, even at a junk yard if necessary. On the slave side the 2.9L connections are different that the 4.0L starting in 1993. If someone were to use a 93+ 4.0L slave on a 2.9L master cylinder then a 93+ hose must be used too. They look similar to the older pre-93 hoses but are actually just a tiny bit different. You wouldn't really notice by looking at it, but the slave connection is different.

Well, I found the little bag with a new clip and o-ring. I put it where I would not loose it.

I have a question(problem) for the last 2 days I've been working on my master cylinder- bleeding. I did a bench bleed, nice and firm, put it back, pushed down, broke push rod, micky moused the push rod. Put it back in..right to the floor..my brakes need to be bled, little spongy, if there's air in the brake system, does that effect the clutch?

The clutch and the brakes are separate systems. How are you bleeding the brakes? I have a hand held vacuum pump that I bought at harbor freight. I hook up a hose between the bleeder screw and the pump. Make sure the reservoir is full. Suck the fluid thru and you will get all the bubbles out.
