slave cylinder differences?

ok, I got a slave cylinder for my truck (90), it wasn't dead so I didn't replace it, now my girlfriends parents definetely have a shot slave (pedal is HARD) on their '94, I was looking on shucks website and they have a "what this part fits" page and they say mine is the same as '88-92, and there's a different one for '93-01, is there really a difference? both are definetely a M5OD, since they're both 2.3's

if theres 2 different part #s for different year breaks, then there must be some difference, not sure what it might be though. maybe the "newer" style is a enginered upgrade.

the slaves are different, the older one uses a different quick connect fitting than the newer one. Are you sure their slave is shot? a hard pedal doesn't indicate a bad slave, but a soft pedal with fluid loss and difficulty engaugeing gears will almost always indicate a bad slave. From everything I've driven I have found that my 94 ranger has a VERY stiff clutch pedal and I know it's not an issue with the parts as every part of the system has been replaced and it didn't make it any easier on my leg.

I beg to differ; My '93 clutch was rock hard and the slave leaked. When replaced, the pedal is back to normal.
