I noticed the gas pedal in my manual 91 4.0L seems to have quite a bit of play. If I push at the top of the pedal arm (bringing the pedal closer towards the driver) the cable comes out about an inch. Should this cable be taut? Not sure how to adjust it.

Damnit. Beat me to it. Literally one of the first things all of us do to our trucks.

Warning: modifying a Ranger is HIGHLY addictive. You won't be able to stop.

Next thing you know, you're meeting some guy named Cliff down by the river for some American Racing rims and a 3g alternator and Chevy bracket.

You've been warned.

Type in Zip Tie mod....oodles of info on this issue.

Basically put a couple zip ties on it to take up the slack (snip slack end off zip tie after tightening too of course!).

What a mod, I feel like I just drove this truck for the first time. I accidentally gunned it pulling out into the street :headbang: it's a whole new truck! The original owner told me he thought it had lost some compression over the years, if he only knew!

Looks like you could get 3 zip ties in there. They do not make new throttle cables for our trucks for some weird reason.

Hahaha....been there, done that myself!! Got the wheels n tires (and motor, and transmission, etc...) to prove it!(y)

Oh god, you think that's bad, just look at the list of mods on the first page alone on my build thread. It's not even a complete list at this point, and they're about halfway done.

Yeah. Welcome to your first "hit." It's all downhill from here.
