Hi folks. I write from Argentina. I´m the owner of a 2000 Ford Ranger 2.5 Turbo diesel with 84.000 miles. The stock ring & pinion set is 4.10. Actually i´m using a set of BF Goodrich AT TA in 31/10.5/15. They look and work great considering the low HP´s of the engine (115 hp), but i would like to put bigger tires, like 32/11./15. I know that this modification wont work with this engine and i was thinking to put shorter ring and pinion sets for both axles, of course.
I´ve seen on Ebay, a 4.3 set for my Ford 8.8 rear axle, but not for the front axle (a Dana 35 IFS). Here goes my question, is there any brand that makes this set (4.30), for a Dana 35??
I´ve been thinking to install a 4.56 set, but they will be too short for a 32* set of tires.
Thanks for the time.
Pablo, from Argentina

PD: here goes a picture of my beloved Ranger (sorry for the dirt, i was offroading :D)

You should be fine with just the 4.10's, if not then get 4.56's and some 33x12.50 tires

Or just forget the whole idea and give the truck to me.

....Yeah, I'd go with that one.

I was thinking about getting 4.56´s and use 32/11.5/15, but the final relation will be short for my taste. I guess I will have to think a little bit more.
And, even if i wanted to get the 32´s, I wouldt be able to. Our grate president, banned the import of tires. I have a little bit more than 12.000 miles left on my BFG´s, I don´t know what i´m going to do then, We are not having a great time here in Argentina.
Bye.

IIRC you can use any standard rotation D35 R&P... One from a Jeep works... Someone else would have to confirm... I'm not 100% positive...

The diff is a hybred dana 30 with dana 35 size ring gear. There is diff Torsen and Quafie both are gear type limited slip. Then 2 auto locker style aussie and lock right

Too bad someone doesn't have electric locker for the front

Up here in the U.S., we would just eat up a diesel ranger. I hate how other countries have them and we dont. Guess that gives us the excuse to do a diesel swap.

Biggest reason why we don't have much for diesel vehicles poeple think of them as big nasty smelly black smoke pigs. In Europe they have Focus diesel that gets 50 miles MPG Ford did a study "if" poeple would buy them here in the US we turned it them down.
Now the down side for UK and Europe using diesels as much as the do. Theres a ton more soot over there that covers builds and among other things. When mixed with water they get a acid that eats at stone buildings. There is plus and neg damn if you do this damn if you don't.

As of right now the US has the strictest emissions in the world on diesels they are cleaner than cars and other diesels in the world. Almost zero emission in soot and NOx since now we are using UREA. Diesels have been cleaner than cars since 2007 since DPF here in US.

My tolerance for using the term "IFS" in regards to Ford Ranger front suspensions is at an end.

Why? because ALL rangers are "IFS" Independent Front Suspension.

ALL.

Early ones are refered to as TTB which IS an "IFS" suspension type.

LATER rangers are "Double Wishbone" "Torsion Bar" or "SLA" (Short-Long Arm)

But in regards to the different generations of ranger IFS only has meaning to differentiate a Ranger from one with an "SAS" or "Solid Axle Swap"

Yeah this is a pet peeve of mine and unless I'm over-ruled by Jim this is the way it's gonna be.
