and what does the Pitman arm even do?

pitman arm is connected to your steering box. steering box is connected to the steering shaft that your steering wheel is connected to. (technically, the steering box is also connected to your power steering pump via pressure lines for power steer fluid)

think of a drop pitman arm like a drop bracket for one of your axle beams. the drop pitman arm will return your steering linkage to something closer to the stock geometry. it'll handle better and let you be able to align it.



if i were you, i'd do some research on this before you tackle it. the ttb suspension is much more complicated than that of other trucks. not as bad as lifting an IFS rig, but not as simple as say a leaf sprung jeep wrangler. there's a ton of threads on here, just search through them and read some posts and you'll figure it out pretty quick, i've learned a shit-ton on here so far.

not to be a dick, but if you dont know what a pitman arm does, then it may be a little over your head right now. not to mention, i'd start finding a new line on some explorer axles, the d28 and 7.5 wont cut it for long.

My bestfriends dad is going to help me, hes a professional Mechanic, he build a Ranger from the ground up with a variety of vehicles from pnp, and he builds custom muscle cars. So im not to worried about getting the job done. He told me to join a forum online and just figure some stuff out, so thats why im always posting questions. haha

Yep with out that dropped arm you will have some ugly bump steer.
