I was either given the wrong kit (something other than the 236RHKS-AN), or they just gave me the wrong u-bolts, or the truck does not have the original rear axle, or I hit my head one to many times. Regardless, I am stuck.

The u-bolts that came with the kit are 10" long and for a 3-3/4" diameter axle (or something that make the axle that wide). The old u-bolts are 3" (3" diameter axle housing).

The kit instructions do not say if I keep the factory blocks or not. If they go away then I think I can find u-bolts that will work today. If they need to stay, I may be SOL until next weekend.

Any info on the rear u-bolts (size) and OEM blocks (stay or go) for this kit would be greatly appreciated.

What does the manual say about blocks? edit, just read that the instructions are lacking. I would suspect that with replacement lift springs that blocks are not needed.

Unfortunately they are closed today. I was thinking the same about the blocks (like not needed) but Skyjacker's site specifically says the OEM blocks are removed for the 234RHKS (4" instead of 6") kit. I may just have to put the new springs in and clamp them good enough to get some weight on the truck and measure the lift. Unloaded, the new springs are very tall.

If you need done today then installing as is will get you by until you know better.

If your rear axle is the same diameter as the 1st gen 7.5 (it is unless someone has done an axle swap), then THIS is a perfect fit with the stock blocks and a thicker spring pack.

Having the blocks or not is just a matter of how much height you gain. That's why one kit will say to keep them and another says to delete them. It's the same springs just with or without the block.

Thanks for the replies. It does need the blocks. The correct u-bolts for the kit are 1/2" diameter, 2-7/8" X 10". We could not locate the right ones (kit came with 3-1/2") so we ended up setting the springs on the axles without the blocks then putting spacers on top of the plate so we could tighten it up enough to at least move the truck. Going to have new u-bolt made tomorrow.
