Six digit (million mile) speedo?


That's an interesting point. I'd be a little concerned about burning up something inside the speedo though. Might give it a quick test later. Thanks for the idea.

I was joking when I mentioned it. I would imagine the parts in there are mostly plastic and wouldn't take the constant high speed to well, unless you ran it at around 100 MPH on there if your Dremel is the variable speed. But even then with an extended run time that would be needed it might still be bad for it.
 
Didn't end up mattering anyway - the speedo cable turns it counter clockwise, so the Dremel and die grinder wouldn't do any good.
 
Just an update I got my odometer out to replace it with one that has a tach. My has a sticker that says "million mile odometer New York State only" on it. Also swapping odometers is very easy. The whole speedometer panel pops out and you can swap it from one cluster to the other no problems.
 
Canadian models have had six digits from the early eighties, whenever they changed to kilometers.
