Clutch and slave cylinder will cost from $200-$300.
Flywheel resurfacing $40-$60.
Fluid $15-$30 depending on which type you use.
$10-$20 for a rear main oil seal since the tranny will be removed.
You will need a floor jack to drop and lift the tranny too.
Assuming the U joints are OK that'll be it.
I sure as hell hope you are a better shade tree mechanic than you are at english grammar and spelling.

prices vary on where you get things, a fairly complete clutch kit from Napa is about $150 retail that has the bare minimums, a resurfaced flywheel or aftermarket one is around $60 retail

The cost greatly changes depending on what other preventative things you want to do, I suggest the rear main seal while you are there, they're like $5.

If doing the job by yourself for the first time, it'll most likely take a weekend

I done it in my 95 2.3 5spd, and it was a little hard (only because I ran into a few problems) but mostly it was just a pain in the butt. I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. Do you want to know how much you should charge someone to fix their clutch, or how much to do it for your own truck?

yeah, I am having difficulties understanding your "simple question" also

Honestly if it's a standard cab truck you will need a 12mm 12 point wrench for the rear driveshaft, a zip tie and a sandwitch bag to put over the snout of the transmission so it doesn't leak fluid, a 13mm wrench for the bellhousing bolts(preferably ratcheting, it'll save you some time), a ratchet strap to support the front of the tranny while you get the bellhousing bolts out, I think a 3/4" socket to get the tranny mount bolts loose, a 15mm and 18mm wrench to get the tranny crossmember off , hammer and punch to pound the bolts through the bushings for the tranny mounts, philips screwdriver for the shifter boot, 17mm wrench for the pinch bolt on the shifter, quick disconnect tool that comes with the Napa clutch kit to get the hydraulic line off the slave cylinder and probably a couple other things I'm forgetting. Of course that is in no particular order...

Thanks guys, Got it done, Yes it was for a frend not my first rodeo just my first ford ranger, replaced all parts for less than 200.00 bucks. probley done it to cheap, out in the cold & on the cold ground. I got a hundred bucks and a hell of a head cold:icon_cheers:

i have a 96 2.3 5 speed and i have to know....is the slave cylinder inside of the transmission??? i know my dads 88 2.9 is. Im about to put a new clutch and other new parts on my truck.....any other suggestions? replace seals, bearings,....?

yes on all accounts. slave is in the bellhousing, best to replace the rear main seal while you are there. Sometimes pulling the engine makes more sense than the transmission depending on how many oil leaks and other issues the engine has when replacing the clutch

well that sucks!!!! why in the world would the engineers put the slave cylinder inside the trans!!!!???? i guess its time for clutch, slave cylinder and rear main seal. My truck is a daily driver with some upgrades......what is a good clutch? i want something a little better than OE but something that will work for hauling some stuff and a daily driver/toy

Honestly they aren't a super common wear part, in 12 years and about 150k on my two RBV's with M5OD trannies I haven't had a bad slave, I have one I was going to put in once but never did... In my explorer the slave or master is going out along with the clutch being on it's way out so it's time for about $200 in parts to be thrown at it...

As for clutch, I'm liking the Centerforce that I put in my truck, if you're nice to it it grabs normal but if you get the RPM up it grabs HARD. It's a step up from stock, I think it's the stock replacement friction disc with the pressure plate with the weights.

If that's out of the budget, the normal Napa clutch kit that comes with throw out bearing and pilot bearing is decent, I used those twice with good luck, the last one I put in was with a chinese flywheel and the clutch ate into the flywheel...

well im the type of guy that says......heck if im gonna be replacing the clutch i might as well replace the other stuff too.....that way i wont have to end up going back and replacing something. I was taught to do it right the first time!

Ive had a centerforce in another vehicle of mine before and looooved it!
Is this the centerforce you speak of? Having to buy pressure plate, disk, throwout bearing and alignment tool separate?
