Howdy, so I was taking wheels off for something and noticed I have two identical wide grooves in just the inside face of both of my front rotors. The grooves are not on the outside faces.

Is this just a clip misplacement of the pads? Those things are also so strange to navigate.

These rotors and clips and pads were brand new when I put them in a year or so ago. I thought I installed everything correctly but perhaps not!

I think maybe I need to buy a new set of everything again and redo it, but just looking for anyone's input in case it's something else.

thanks !

I agree. It looks like rivet grooves. How do the pads look?

I'll bet that you have calipers sticking. As in not retracting fully after brake release. The keys? slots should be clean and lightly lubed so the caliper can move freely (if I'm remembering the style caliper mounting). Also could be the piston not retracting fully. That could be from corrosion inside the bore. The square o-ring pulls back the piston just slightly when the pressure is released, and corrosion inside the bore will prevent that.
