well, in all the trucks ive ever done ive never had a leafspring bolt that refused so much to get pounded outta the sleeve, it is in there tight as can be, the head is already cut off so i can pound it through, anyone know any tricks other then usin smokey to get this out of the sleeve......i need to reuse the bushings(there nice newer poly bushings)

It's not like those bushings cost much.

Certainly less than an ER copay (do NOT torch spring steel!). Duff has a set for $35.25, brand new pretty blue poly. Energy Suspension seems to have a set as well.

Do make sure ALL the stress is off that bolt. Presuming the suspension is hanging free, you can put a jack under the axle/shock mount.

Try putting a couple washers on the threaded end and then put the nut back on, and start tightening it, with enough washers it should start pulling the remains of the bolt out (or turning it) as you tighten it which should (in theory) make it easier to come out.

I would put neverseize on it when you put it back together just to be safe next time.:icon_thumby:

ya, i got the ass end of the truck suspended in the air with my cherry picker, all of the other 3 came out fine, i really dont know why this oens not coming out, comes down to the fact that i dont got the spare money, or time to order new bushings....esp if only one is siezed up like this

been doin the spacer trick and its just goin so friggin slow, its hard as hell to turn it even with 4ft of a breaker bar on it....i have NEVER seen on this siezed in there b4

Soak it down with a good penetrating oil, then hit it with an air hammer backed by some force. Sometimes working it each direction helps too. I didn't really think it could work after having spent some time fighting seized bolts in 'em until I saw it done. Just keep soaking it down and wacking it with the air hammer, should come right out.

alright, im officially past peturbed with this thing now, im doin this shit, and it just pulled the inner sleeve through the hanger:icon_surprised:....i aint EVER seen anything like this.....this had me perplexed and boggled like u would nto bleieve

If you have one can you get on it with an impact? Or did you already get it out? Your close up is a little too close and out of focus to see what is going on.

I hate crap like that, maybe you can pull the hanger and take the spring off the axle and just drill it out.

I use a piece of pipe just a tad bigger than the bolt and use a shop press to get mine out, always works. But you have to have the spring right out of the truck to do this
