I did pretty much the same thing on my ranger
2.5" from the cat back to a 2.5" thrush welded muffler hannging off the stock hanger location with a 90* bend to dump out the side.

I thought it was gonna be louder inside the cab, but its not really that loud.
At idle its barely louder than stock outside of the truck... untill you rev it up a bit.

yep, i agree on all points. it sounds great now, deep, throaty and not obnoxious.
