SICK mustang

18 liters is nice and all...but if your gonna go big:

http://www.rodshop.com.au/project55.htm

thats a 27 liter V12 from a P-51 mustang, rate over 1,600HP.

That is a sick car! Someone spent alooooooot of money and time building that. I posted the original link after finding a video of Ford's largest Gas burner. I didn't realized Ford built anything of that size.

Did Sherman tanks have such advance engines back in the 1940's? Cast aluminum blocks & DOHC?

Put still, 1100cc. :shok: A bit overkill in the displacement. It would only need two gears. Slow and hual-butt.

Yes they did. It was by far the best engine produced for the sherman tank.

There were a few others... The radial 9 cylinder, which was very common in earlier models. The chrysler multibank, which was basically 5 inline 6 cyliner engines bolted together, that makes 30 cylinders...Nightmare. One model had a diesel, but I don't remember offhand who made it. None were liked nearly as much as the GAA.

Ford kept it simple, lightweight, and easy to maintain. Not to mention, powerful. It's torque is equal or greater than it's displacement at every rpm.
