Shudder/Studder at Start & Stop?

I test drove a couple of Rangers today (an `01 & `02, 4.0 auto, 75,000miles) and they each had a slight shudder when starting out from a start and it did it again when comming to a stop. Is this common with Rangers or is this a sign of a torque converter or transmission problem?

Agressive tyres will cause that.

Neither truck had aggresive tires. It felt more like a driveline issue.

Had the problem with my 93 4X4 4.0, and it turned out to be the rear driveshaft slip yoke.
When you decide on which truck, have them take the shaft off, remove the rubber bellows and grease the splines.
