Should I use LUCAS ATF additive in my '95 Ranger when I change the transmission fluid this weekend? Also, I'm a bit confused on the type of fluid to use. I bought some ADVANCE Auto ATF, but it has a warning on it about it not being a "Type F". The owner's manual says something about "only using a Type F" marked ATF. I originally bought it for my wife's Toyota Sienna, but that forum recommends Valvoline Devon or Mercon type ATF.
This '95 has about 100K mile on it. The tranny was serviced by a shop about 40K+ miles or so. I know that is bad, but I'm improving my maintenance habits on all of our cars (4 of them). I find forums like this extremely helpful and motivating.
All help is deeply appreciated.
