So my gauge isnt working, I am assuming it is the float. Since I am going to be dropping the tank, should I replace the whole unit pump assembly or just replace the float? The assembly is 100 bucks but I am thinking if I ahve it all down I mine as well replace it all. What do yall think? Also how bad is it to drop a tank? Seems like it is pretty easy, unbolt everything and lower it with a floor jack right?:icon_confused::icon_cheers:

can be a pain, because of dust and rust and broken crap. its almost easier and less of a mess and certainly less crap in your eye to get the bed bolts out and get the bed off. you just need a buddy and a few blocks of wood to set it on.

i just went thru the same thing with my 88 ranger and I found it much easier to take off the bed. It only took about 15 minutes to remove and 15 to reinstall as opposed to removing and reinstalling the tank being a 3 to 5 hrs job depending on any hidden pains.

the pump and float assemble is a bit pricey > $100.00 usd. I've repaired the sender bunches of times on different models. It usually is because the fingers on the float no longer make contact with the resistance element. OTOH, if the gauge reads full you either have a short in the wiring or the instrument panel has gone bad.
