on my other thread, i posted that i was having issues with my oil pressure gauge. i'm looking for the most cost effective fix and hoping to solve the problem with the oil pressure sender. is this the right way to go? i think this is the problem but im not sure. let me know. thanks

If you ground the wire to the sensor does the guage read high or the light turn on. If so yea get a new sensor/switch depending on if it is a guage or light. The sensor provides a ground for the guage or opens the circuit for the light. If you get a pulsing voltage at the sensor wire around 8 volts then the guage curcuit is good. If not and the other guages are working then it is the guage or wire going to it.

should i just check the voltage and the ground? or just replace it and get it over with.

just take the wire to the sensor and touch it to ground if the guage reads high replace the sensor

The sender is the ground to the guage it is just a variable resistor depending on the oil pressure

The key needs to be in the run position then ground the wire and have someone look at the guage
