If you can use them go for it.

I've always considered the usefulness of an item is much more important than looks, and they look decent. Heck stain em, or finish them and they'll look good.

i think if you'll use it, it will be a useful rather cheap mod, that actually gets used, that's the best kind of mod.


it's a good idea, like i said if you'll use it, and it looks good too, IMO... i say go for it.

Have your kids, wife, or friends paint them in a way that's not too childish, or strange.


You could add looks to it without it just being slabs of wood on the side of your bed.

As long as you have the stake mounts (which you do), I would go for it... though I wouldn't permanently mount it or anything, just hold it down with some of those clamps they use on bed liners..

well, if you didn't have a need for them you probably wouldn't be doing it, so i'd go for it. also, i'd use stainless steel hardware to assemble it. will still be looking good years from now.
