The truck has a 2.3L 4cyl engine with 179000 miles an a 5-speed manual trans. The trucks runs but is having a problem goin over 3000 rpm's. I just put 900 bucks into it to try an fix the problem and thought i had it but it started actin up again. My mechanic told me after a little investigating that it has a bad computer. I bought a new truck and dont have the room for 2 trucks where i live an i dont want to put the money into a computer. My mechanic told me u could get one out of a junk yard cheap or buy a new one. This truck has been in the family for 12 years and has been a really good truck and have never had any problems with it till now. It has alot of new parts on it within the past 3 years. Here is a list of what i just did to it to try an get the rpm's up over 3000.
- new fuel injector on 2nd cyl
- new fuel filter
- new coil packs
- new sprk plugs and wires
- new tps ( throttle position sensor )
- new crank sensor
- new mass air flow sensor
- new timing belt
All those parts are what just cost me $900. There is alot of other new parts on but to much to list. This truck would make a really good truck if someone wants to put the money for the computer into it. The truck is worth 800 as it sits now, it still runs and drives so you could drive it home.

Do you think this would be a good buy? i might be able to get the truck for 600 bucks i mean there doesnt appear to be any rust on it but i dont want to buy a truck with a bad engine?
should i try it
what could this problem be?
