short shifter

Ebay has a Husrt short throw shift kit for the rangers, It'll run you about 200 I believe. You can prolly go through Hurst or another dealer for cheaper.

LOOOOOOOOVE my hurst!! After I got one, my little brother got one, and two of my local buddys converted to manual w/ hurst on theirs after driving mine. Shortens the shifts a sh!tton, WAY MORE positive gear engagement when shifting, and overall it kicks ass. Sure, it's sorta loud, they all tend to rattle in a gear or two, but thats a small price to pay to have one bad ass shifter.

What it does, is moved the pivot ball to ABOVE the trans, whereas stock pivot ball is IN the trans. Thus, shortening the shift. Literally, the 1-2 shift on a hurst is the same distance as 1-N on stock shifters.

yeha me and my dad put a pro 5.0 in our mustang

so its a must in the ranger

im glad to actouly hear a awsome review on itthanks man

hmm thats interesting. I'm getting kinda tired of the 3 foot throw between gears. maybe ill look into that. haha.

Something else to add....you can easily make a bracket between the shifter itself and the arm. You can get the ball in the PERFECT place for you. And, with a bodylift, make a bracket and no need for that stupid $50 shifter arm extention that makes the throws ever LONGER than stock. I've got a 2.5" up, 1 1/8" back, 1/4" towards the driver extention on my BL'd truck and it's just about perfect. I find that on a non-BL'd truck, the shifter is a little bit of a reach, and I am by no means a little man with little arms either. lol.

I used steeda tri-ax billet shifter in my mustang and Ill never use anything else in a stang. It takes some gettin used to and if your stopnut arent set right youll miss 3rd every time, but setup properly its a rush to hammer the gears in light speed.

yea hurst is the only one i know of

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUU-3915020/

but you know is adds nothing but a firmer shift right

alot of people get rid of them because of that and the extra noise

just letting you know

Name one? I've been around here for years and can't remember the first person giving more than a passing mention to the noise increase from the Hurst shifter. Nothing close to 'alot of people' getting rid of them (or even one).

this is great. i just got my ranger and have really been considering a hurst shifter.

Thank you. I meant to say that earlier but forgot.
