what shocks should i or do i need to run with the 64" leafs and shackle flip
planning to run a bed cage / hoop set up, so would i run external bypass shocks or some type of coil over?

You would need to run either a smooth body or bypass shock for this setup. Since you are using leaf springs, a coilover shock is not needed. On average, most people with this setup run a 2.5" remote reservoir shock with a stroke length of 14-18" depending on how you set up your shock mounts. 3.0" shocks are would be preferable to a 2.5" shock but cost is substantially higher. On a side note, a triple bypass shock can be set up to act as a hydraulic bump stop on the final compression stage.

k sweet thank you
i was looking into some fox 2.5" external bypass for the truck and just wanted to make sure thats what i would want to run for that set up
as well as some fox 2.0 4" bump stops

yeah i had taken a look at what giant has
it all looks real sick but i dont know if i need it
but we'll see when the time comes, for now im just trying to get a rough estimate and plan for the truck

you really dont need the shocks giant sells. talked to Dave over at threat and he was tellin me about when he ran gaints 64" kit. he had jsut regular smooth body shocks with the right valving in them and ran just as well or better as guys with those shocks. its all about the tuning of what shock you use.

ill be using fox or king 3.0 tripple bypasses and using the last stage of bypass as the bumpstop. i may look at seperate hydro bumpstops down the road if the shocks get too hot but im doubtin it.

the plus side with bypass you can fine tune the valving of the shock a lot easier then a smoth body.

i do agree no mater what kind of shock you run. the performance is all in the valving.

hey thanks guys
how hard is it to revalve shocks for trucks?
i work on downhill mountain bikes but i dont really deal with valving my suspension its just adjustments and rebuilds

I'm liking this down hill mt biking idea. So doing this I dont have to pedal to the top of the hill? Do they have a lift to take my ass to the top? If so I'm in, I'll let gravity push my fat ass around.

thanks dude

haha yeah take the ski lift to the top
or use your truck and switch drivers
just hammer the downhills, waaay sicker than pedaling up hills
the bikes are a bit expensive though and are the reason my truck is getting little done to it at the moment haha
