My 95 4x4 ext cab 4.0 ranger needs new shocks, trying to decide which. Tried rough country gas on my last truck and I think they made the ride worse without any handling benefit. Not looking to spend for the bilisteins so right now I am looking at the list below, I am also installing leveling coils which I assume will be stiffer than my sagging ford springs.

ProComp ES3000
ProComp ES9000
Duff 70/30's

Opinions/suggestions? Truck sees mostly roads/highways, don't rockcrawl with it, more trails through woods for camping/hunting etc.

The ES9000's are the top shelf gas shock and don't really cost a lot more. Only thing is, a number of people on a number of boards (myself included) have complained that Pro Comps have an annoying tendency to arrive missing some small parts and mounting hardware.

you woulden't think the duff's were stiffer as theres only 30% resistance on up travel.

I'm new to Rangers and am pretty sure my coil springs need to be replaced on my 96 STX. Where is a good place to buy them?

Thanks

So the ES9000 should be less stiff than the ES3000's? I just assumed it would be the opposite (previous experience with gas charged). Maybe stiff is a bad description, I want controlled body roll but without a jarring ride (Drive my truck through NYC which can have some pretty interesting road hazards).

:dunno: I bought mine like 2.5 years ago on an ebay clearance sale, and never installed them in my old truck. I do not think the company still exists, but there are other options out there.

I use the Duff's on all 4 corners. I like the ride very much. Nice on a DD.
