I feel like I hit the lottery!!! Craigslist was good to me last week! :yahoo: I was casually browsing the parts for sale section (my favorite way to collect junk), and I came across a 98 Mercury Mountaineer AWD with 200k on the clock. Guy says he wants $350 because it makes a noise. So I'm almost certain this thing will be a heap. Turns out, it had a smaller tire on the right front and the front differential shredded itself and the transfer case had a chain so stretched, it could've been used for Flava-Flav's gigantic 90's clock! So I parked it on the side of the shop on day 3 of ownership. That night, I had got back on the almighty Craigslist to see what other treasures I could hoard. Sure enough, a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT, 4x4, 3.0L, Supercab 4dr, 150,000 mile, fleetside bed, red beauty was listed for $300 with NO ENGINE. I thought for sure it's a heap with no title, swiss cheese rusted body, and the interior that numerous animals made love in. Much to my absolute and utter disbelief, there is a motor (It was in the bed), this truck is 98% rust free with the cleanest interior a grandpa would demand! I robbed this man with his $300 price point. So now I have these two vehicles and I'm doing the oh so familiar 5.0L swap. Stay tuned for great updates and a very detailed write-up. Cheers gents, and lets learn together!
